About the Research Institute
Our Research Institute aims to research and develop, consult, and foster talent that supports innovation in local small and medium-sized companies and technology commercialization, based on technology management, technology economics, technology strategy, science and technology policy, and industrial engineering. To this end, we establish strategic cooperative relationships with organizations related in industry–academia–research, act as a local innovation hub, and contribute to the strengthening of local industry competitiveness.

Research Institute’s Timeline
■ September 2017:Establishment plan and detailed operation regulations set for the Technology Innovation Management Research Institute of Pukyong National University
■ September 2019: Requested the establishment of the Technology Innovation Management Research Institute within Pukyong National University’s Engineering Research Center
■ December 27, 2019 (date of establishment)–January 1, 2020: First director:Asst. Prof. Chun Dongpil
■ January 8, 2020–September 10, 2020: Second director:Asst. Prof. Kwak Kiho
■ September 11, 2020–Present: Third director:Asst. Prof. Chun Dongpil
Key Activities
1. Tailored briefing sessions for entrepreneurial support and consultations provided through the “Industry–Academia Platform”
- In cooperation with Busan Technopark, Korea Invention Promotion Association, and Korea Technology Finance Corporation, this system provides integrated information on support projects necessary for the growth of the southeast region’s local start-ups, and operates the “Industry–Academia Cooperation Platform” that provides consultations regarding entrepreneurial challenges

■ December 13, 2017: MOU among support organizations participating in the Platform
■ February 16, 2018: Briefing session for the businesses that have set up offices at Pukyong University’s Yongdang campus
■ March 19, 2019: Briefing on the support projects of participating organizations, and consultations (1st session)
- Ten press releases (Financial News, Yonhap News, Newsis, etc.)
- A total of 43 consultations were carried out in the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, Busan Technopark, and Korea Invention Promotion Association booths
■ February 5, 2020: Briefing on the support projects of participating organizations, and consultations (2nd session)
- Eight press releases (Money Today, Kookjae News, etc.)
- Scheduled to be held again in 2021
■ Future plans
- To increase the number of participating organizations, and expand the pool of participating businesses (to include businesses that have no office within the graduate school)
- Connect with field study courses, and offer problem-solving and mentoring opportunities for businesses participating in the Platform (3–12 months)

■ Education goals and target: disseminate practical entrepreneurial knowledge and support the creation of new industries for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs
②Executive Program in the Technology Commercialization Academy
■ Education goals and target: reinforce the technology commercialization capabilities of the CEOs and executives of local small and medium-sized companies and of the executives of public organizations
