About the Family Businesses System
It is a custom-tailored support system that utilizes the knowledge and infrastructure of the Graduate School of Management of Technology at Pukyong National University to help strengthen the competitiveness of local small and medium-sized companies.
Main Roles
■ Offer support to address technical difficulties, and consultations regarding the commercialization of technology: short-term problem-solving projects
- Swift support for technical and market development-related difficulties, by covering a maximum of 1 million won in direct costs per company
■ Industry–academia projects: collaborative projects to create mid- to long-term new-growth engines
- Support for collaborative projects and business model innovations for family businesses, so they may participate in national and regional R&D projects, by covering 2 million won (up to 5 million won) in direct costs per project
■ Field study: A separate course is created, in which the professor and students become a team to help solve problems faced by family businesses
- Course title: field study of innovative growth of the manufacturing industry, field study of start-ups and creation of a new industry
- Carries out required surveys on family businesses, and proceeds as requested
■ Education & training: short-term education and training programs for CEO sand employees of family businesses
- Visits to family businesses and the development of collective education organized by the graduate school
■ Information sharing:sharing current technology and market trends within the same industry and hosting “Family Business Day” to create a network among family businesses (to be scheduled)
- There will be a consultation space provided for family businesses
■ Joint internship: provide family businesses with a chance to secure talent and facilitate employment among current students, by developing internships for full-time students
Key Characteristics
■ For family businesses that have committed to cash investment, priority support is offered for projects such as help with technical difficulties, consultation on technology commercialization, industry–academia projects, and field research
- Preferential consideration for scholarships for students from family businesses that have committed to cash investment
■ By assigning a professor to each family business, relationships are strengthened and closer custom-tailored support is provided
■ Promotes joint growth of family businesses, enrolled students, and the graduate school through the full-cycle support of key functions
■ Hosts “Family Business Day,” delivers certification plaques, displays panels of family businesses that are part of the graduate school, and systematically promotes the family business system through the website
- Promotes excellent family business cases in the ad section of the daily graduate school newspaper, speaks of these cases when preparing teaching materials and writing papers, and uses them as lecture topics, etc.
