The members of construction materials laboratory are working on following areas of research:
1) Cement Chemistry; set and stiffening behavior of cement based materials, premature stiffening and its relationship to the rheological behavior
2) Durability of cement based materials; chloride ion penetration, sulfate attack, freeze-thaw resistance, alkali-silica reaction
3) Application of carbon-nanotube, graphene, and other nano-materials into cement based materials
4) Environmentally friendly materials; reduction on CO2 emission, mineralization of CO2, sequestration of CO2, recycling of industrial by-product materials as pozzolans or aggregates, etc.
5) Behavior of cement based materials under heavily irradiated environment; degradation mechanism, development of boron-containing admixture,
6) Radioactive waste immobilization; solidification using cementitious materials, development of alternative solidifying agents, decommissing, separation of activated concrete
